Buying furniture in Alicante: measurements, quotes and delivery

Draw a simple floor plan showing room dimensions, doors, windows, radiators and sockets. Include furniture you are keeping. Photos help explain style, but they cannot establish whether a drawer will open or a door will hit the sofa. Bring both and explain what you want to improve: storage, seating, a study area or a bed that frees space during the day.

Think through actual routines. Do you eat in the living room every day, work in a shared bedroom or need a sofa bed for visitors? For a second home, explain how you will use it and who can receive the order. These details help frame the discussion; they do not automatically determine a particular material or price range.

For a single item, begin with specialists in that product category. For several rooms, ask who coordinates measurements, layout and fitting. A complete bedroom in a catalogue does not establish that every configuration will work at home. A “Featured” label also cannot replace checking materials, dimensions and purchase terms.

For a small lift or narrow staircase, share photos and measurements of the entire route. Ask whether an access visit is available and what happens if the furniture cannot be carried upstairs. Home delivery should not be assumed to include specialist lifting equipment, permits or additional work.

Request the model, dimensions, finish and fabric or material reference in writing. For a sofa, try the configuration you intend to order and ask about cleaning and maintenance. For storage, check internal fittings, opening mechanisms and layout. A photograph of cabinet fronts does not show what will be inside.

Separate furniture, customisation, transport, carrying upstairs and assembly in the quote. Include removal of old furniture only if needed and establish who provides it. Agree a delivery date or window and a named contact. If you will only be in Alicante briefly, explain that before placing the order. Ask how to receive and inspect the items and report an issue. Keep the quote, specifications and written confirmation of changes.

If you are arranging delivery from abroad, decide who can check the order locally. Share access instructions and a working contact number. A booking that depends on your arrival should be confirmed with the shop rather than inferred from an estimated manufacturing date.
